Within the framework of France 2030, decarbonised hydrogen appears to be a key solution in the national energy transition policy, mainly for decarbonising industry and mobility: €9 billion has been announced for investment between now and 2030 (including €2 billion for industry). Decision-support tools and methodologies such as Territorial Life Cycle Assessment (T-LCA) are needed to justify the sustainability of these future sectors. To do this, they must take account of society's values and interests, as well as quantifying and identifying environmental issues.
The date on which the doctoral degree was obtained may not be more than three years before the start of the postdoctoral contract. The expected starting date is September 2025.
The post-doctoral researcher will carry out an ambitious scientific project that will begin with a review of the state of the art in participatory LCA by studying the scientific literature and project documents (grey literature). This state of the art will enable the postdoctoral researcher to study these different approaches in depth and to design one that is compatible with the methodology of T-LCA applied to the implementation of a new sector in an area, which has never been done before. The methodology will have to enable a choice of scenario to be made for the implementation of the low-carbon hydrogen sector within a region, considering the interests and values of its citizens.
Finally, to prove the value of the participatory T-LCA methodology developed, the postdoctoral student will apply this approach to a case study in France, to be determined during the postdoctoral period.
